University of Delaware Soccer Alumni

The 1983 squad enjoyed  a good year under coach Kline and Samonisky finishing 9-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the ECC. The squad opened up with a win against Elizabethtown and went on to post a big wins against Franklin & Marshall 4-1 later in the season and a 5-0 win over UMBC.

This Blue Hen squad also felled Haverford, Rider, West Chester, Drexel, Saint Joe's and Lafayette, before losing their final game to Drexel 1-0 in the ECC Tournament.

Mark Haggerty had 7 assists this year, and remains fourth on the single season list for assists (Bill Steffen had 10 in 1988). Mark still holds the Delaware record on Career Assissts with 18.

Dave Whitcraft was the player of the year in the East Coast Conference and an the first UDEL All-American since George Caruso in 1978.
